Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies

Oooey gooey cookies. What’s better than that? Perhaps not baking them on a hot day, but whatever. Moving along.

Truth be told, I’m not a huge fan of chocolate chip oatmeal cookies. I think chocolate chips should stay in their chocolate chip cookies and raisins should be in oatmeal cookies. However, I bribed two bachelor friends of mine to take out their trash by offering to bake them cookies. When they finally did it, they requested these cookies.

I think these are edible, but I still think these would be better with raisins instead of chocolate chips. But what do I know? Everyone who has had some think they’re delicious, so I’m the odd man out. My roommate sent me a text after she left apologizing for not telling me they were “deelish” as she scarfed them down. Her words not mine. :P

I used the recipe on the Quaker Oats box and just exchanged the raisins (so sad) for chocolate chips.

 1/2 pound butter
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 cups granulated sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon salt
3 cups Old Fashioned Oats
1 cup chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 350
1.Cream butters and sugars. Add eggs and vanilla
2. Combine flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt. Add in batches to wet ingredients
3. Add Oats
4. Add chocolate chips
5. Plop dough on to a parchment covered cookie sheet, and pop in the oven for 10-12 minutes.

Viola cookies Rene will not eat! Enjoy :).

I’ve used this recipe too! And I’ve done it your way (off the box) and my way (off the box minus one critical ingredient). If you omit the cinnamon, it makes all the difference in the world. If you put the cinnamon in, they just taste like you got chips confused with raisins! Give this recipe a shot without the cinnamon. You won’t be disappointed.
